Exciting news! We’re looking forward to continuing our DJ Scratch Academy program at Richmond Preparatory Charter School for the new school year!

This summer, our middle school students are stepping into the world of music production through our partnership with Scratch DJ Academy! 🎶

From learning how to mix tracks and create beats to exploring the technology behind music, students are building creativity, confidence, and real-world skills…all while having fun!

Meet Meranda Thomas, our dedicated Special Education Department Chair and STEM teacher. 👋

This year marks Ms. Thomas’ 10th year as a Special Education and Math teacher, in which she proudly spent the past 3 years in the Richmond Preparatory Charter School community!

Ms. Thomas’ favorite part of teaching? The lightbulb moments, when a student suddenly resends a concept and their excitement fills the room.💡

”For me, teaching is about more than academics, it’s about being present, listening, supporting, and walking with students through both their successes and their challenges, while always holding them to high expectations,” Ms. Thomas writes. “Those are the moments that remind me why this work matters, why I teach.”

Ms. Thomas considers herself a lifelong learner and teaching keeps her curious, pushes her to grow, and allows her to learn alongside her students every single day.

We are proud of Ms. Thomas for leading a strong session with families during Curriculum Night and for pushing our team to be our best selves for students, families and staff.
