Mwarusembe Girls’ Hostel: A Story of Hope and Safety

📍 Mwarusembe Secondary School, Pwani Region – Tanzania

Before our hostel was built, dozens of girls faced a daily struggle — walking 5–10 km through unsafe paths just to attend school. Many dropped out, and teenage pregnancies were sadly common.

Since the Build A Life Foundation and African Reflections Foundation opened the Mwarusembe Girls’ Hostel, everything changed.

💫 Impact:
• Teenage pregnancies reduced from over 15 cases per year to almost zero
• Attendance rose by more than 80%
• Performance improved as girls had a safe, supportive place to study and rest

Today, these girls dream bigger — doctors, teachers, leaders — because they finally have a safe place to call home.

At Build a Life Foundation, we believe youth are not just the leaders of tomorrow—they are the changemakers of today.

This week, we had the honor of witnessing powerful stories at the UN ECOSOC Youth Forum. Young leaders from around the world shared how they are transforming their communities—one voice, one act, one dream at a time.

From providing life-saving healthcare in Lebanon to empowering girls in Sierra Leone through education and dignity, to advocating for social equity in North America—the message is clear:

Real change starts with courage, community, and action.

We are proud to stand with these young visionaries and to be part of a global movement that uplifts the voices of those driving Sustainable Development Goals forward.

Let’s continue to build a life of dignity, hope, and opportunity—for every child, every woman, every community.
