Happy to have finally had a chance to visit “Designing Motherhood: Things that Make and Break Our Births” at .

It inevitably triggered thoughts about my own experience, the vast industry surrounding pregnancy and motherhood, the progress we’ve made and how very far we still have to go. On view through March 15, and well worth a visit.

A quick look inside the Frick Collection, newly renovated by ✨⁣
It’s a beautiful and careful transformation—though tough to appreciate when every corner is packed with visitors. Also: no photography allowed (oops 👀).

What is the value of design? In the context of architecture and real estate, the value of design—be it financial or social value— remains largely overlooked and inadequately researched in both academia and real estate valuation practices. By failing to acknowledge the potential of design, we miss opportunities to address the wide-ranging social and sustainability challenges at play today.⁣

Buro Koray Duman’s () Germantown Artist Studio and House for textile and ceramic artist Miranda Fengyuan Zhang () is set at the edge of a forested hill and flat farmland in Germantown, New York. The structure reinterprets the area’s prevalent agricultural typology—a traditional barn—through sculptural operations of bending, carving, and tilting. This dynamic manipulation of form orients the entrance and artist studio to the north and the living spaces toward the west, creating distinct zones for both creativity and calm. ⁣
