💥Canopy Artist Feature💥

👀 Check out the work of Keerim Kim ( keerimkim )!! Keerim was in Jennifer Coates’ ( Jennifer Coates ) 2024 in The Canopy Program - NYC Crit Club. Head to Keerim’s account to check out her work! 💥

Keerim is currently an artist in residence at Cha North ( Chashama North ) for the month of August! If you are in the area, Open Studios are August 30th from 1 - 4 pm.

Keerim Kim’s current body of work centers around the concept of home, shaped by her experience as a migrant. This ongoing search draws heavily on the natural world. Shell animals carry their protective homes with them, embodying a sense of constant, portable security. Sea turtles return to their birthplace to nest, and perennial plants grow back each year, recalling where they originated.

She is drawn to shapes and forms that bridge the natural and architectural worlds, such as the curves of shells meeting hard edges and corners. The use of light, color, and opacity is integral—not only to evoke mood but also to explore movement and the passage of time, as time is essential to understanding how the concept of home evolves. Through layering these elements, she captures the shifting nature of belonging.

💥Canopy Artist Feature💥

👀 Check out the work of Aruni Dharmakirthi ( aruuuuuuni )!! Aruni was in Tamara Gonzales’ ( Tamara Gonzales ) 2024-2025 Cohort in The Canopy Program - NYC Crit Club.

Aruni’s solo show “𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝙒𝙤𝙧𝙡𝙙 𝙄𝙨 𝘼 𝙆𝙞𝙨𝙨, 𝙉𝙤𝙩 𝘼 𝙎𝙩𝙤𝙣𝙚” is currently up at Tempest Gallery ( tempest.gallery ) through September 5th. Check out the show before it closes!

A few words from Aruni: “Stitching together fragments of fabric, I use mending as a form of storytelling. Each piece carries an emotional weight that reflects the fluidity of identity and memory. I explore personal mythology by constructing a unique visual language developed through the experience of being a Sri Lankan immigrant in America.”
