تدعونا هذه الورشة إلى اكتشاف فن الرسم الزيتي من خلال حياة وأعمال عثمان حمدي بك، الفنان وعالم الآثار والمعلّم الذي جمع بين الدقة الأكاديمية والخيال البصري والوعي بالتاريخ.

This workshop invites us to discover oil painting through the life and work of Osman Hamdi Bey—the artist, archaeologist, and educator who united academic precision, visual imagination, and historical awareness.

سنتعلّم كيف تتكون اللوحة من طبقات، وكيف نستخدم اللون والضوء والظل والملمس والتكوين لبناء مشهد يحمل إحساسًا وذاكرةً وفكرة.

We will learn how a painting develops through layers, and how color, light, shadow, texture, and composition can construct a scene filled with emotion, memory, and thought.

والهدف ليس أن نقلّد أعماله، بل أن نتعلّم منها كيف نرى بعمق، وكيف نجعل لكل ضربة فرشاة سببًا ولكل لون صوتًا.

Our purpose is not to imitate his work, but to learn from it how to see more deeply—and how to give every brushstroke a reason and every color a voice.

He painted humanity within architecture, excavated civilizations beneath the earth, and helped establish an arts education that gave future generations new instruments for seeing the world.

من خلال عالم عثمان حمدي بك، نتعلّم كيف تُبنى الصورة طبقةً فوق طبقة، وكيف تتحول العمارة والملابس والكتب والأشياء إلى عناصر تنظم الفراغ وتصنع المعنى.

Through the world of Osman Hamdi Bey, we learn how an image is constructed layer by layer, and how architecture, garments, books, and objects become elements that organize space and create meaning.

لن ننظر إلى اللوحة بوصفها سطحًا مزخرفًا، بل بوصفها مبنى ندخله بأعيننا، ونكتشف في غرفه ذاكرة الفنان وعصره.

We will not regard the painting as a decorated surface, but as a building we enter with our eyes, discovering within its rooms the memory of the artist and his age.

دخل عثمان حمدي بك إلى المرسم حاملًا فرشاة، لكنه خرج منه حاملًا آثار نفسه.

Osman Hamdi Bey entered the studio carrying a brush, but he left carrying the ruins of himself.

كلما وضع لونًا على القماش، انفتحت طبقة من الذاكرة، وظهر تحتها بابٌ عثماني، أو كتابٌ صامت، أو حضارة تنتظر من يزيل عنها غبار النسيان.

Each time he placed color upon the canvas, a layer of memory opened, revealing an Ottoman doorway, a silent book, or a civilization waiting for someone to remove the dust of oblivion.

في هذه الورشة، يصبح اللون عالم آثار، وتصبح اللوحة أرضًا، ويصبح الفنان السرَّ المدفون في أعماقها.

In this workshop, color becomes an archaeologist, the canvas becomes the earth, and the artist becomes the secret buried within it.

Inspired by his world of music, symbols, geometry, and childhood wonder, we learn to build a painting through transparent layers, allow colors to converse, and transform the simplest forms into worlds alive with imagination.
