I am a composer-lyricist, librettist, performer, vocal coach, musical director, and YouTube educator currently residing in New York City. I graduated from SUNY Geneseo with a B.A. in Theatre-English (Summa Cum Laude with Honors and several distinctions). I am also an alumnus of the esteemed Lehman Engel BMI Musical Theatre Writing Workshop as a lyricist, and continue several collaborations formed within the program. As a writer, I’ve written four full-length musical theatre pieces, including my original musicals The King’s Legacy and ‘S Wonderful: An Evening with George Gershwin, which both received world premiere productions at the Bristol Valley Theater in Naples, NY (August 2019 and 2021 respectively). The King’s Legacy has also been presented in Industry Reading format, both in fall of 2019 as part of the Dramatists Guild Friday Night Footlights and in November 2016, as well as part of the Emerging Artists Theater Festival in 2014, and in a workshop through the Random Access Theatre in 2013. I continue to collaborate on other projects as well, including a musical adaptation of The Legend Of Sleepy Hollow, which received its first workshop reading in October 2018. I’m also collaborating on a family-oriented musical comedy set in the world of competitive baton twirling, based off my family's history with the sport! In addition to the writing, I enjoy performing at every possible opportunity and feel particularly lucky to have found a performance home at Bristol Valley Theater over seven of the past eight summers (performance news below). I’m also in my twelfth year as a private vocal coach, instructor, and musical director, both professionally and educationally! MY MISSION FOR YOU:
I believe that there is no one method that fits everyone, but that every person and project is different. As a result, I strive to provide fully individualized feedback and education that meets people where they are and moves them toward their goals. I’m a life-long learner, and I always look for new ways to help people up-level themselves and their projects. Helping others achieve their goals is one of my all-time favorite activities. I’ve collected a sizable base of resources and knowledge over the years, which I use to help others expand their own toolkits through different terminology, science-based understanding, vocal techniques, and various methodologies. Using my objective observational skills, I try to find what routes work the best for the individual to give every student the best possible opportunities for success. Together my students and I build out an expansive toolkit that they can then put into practice. I firmly believe in questioning what we understand, always with an eye toward self-analysis and comprehension. It is our job to make other people feel through the stories we tell - without doing harm to our audiences or to ourselves - so I focus on using rock solid foundations to make sure what we are producing is open, free, and easy. I then help you tell the best story you are able to tell with the tools you have available. My personal mission is to open peoples’ minds to what is possible for themselves and for the world, always through the lens of love. And it is with that intent that I approach every lesson, class, coaching, and student. I so look forward to meeting you!
