After nearly 3 weeks of live on air competitions the 2022 Winter have come to an end! This year's games have welcomed nearly 3,000 athletes representing 91 countries to . I love to watch both the Summer and Winter Olympic games because they represent the pinnacle of one's athletic ambitions while representing their respective countries with great and .
We undoubtedly witnessed some spectacular moments on screen from some incredibly talented individuals! I hope that their greatness inspired you to keep reaching for your own goals! I am continuing my series to cover some more Winter related vocabulary. I hope that you have the opportunity to practice should you ever encounter this season wherever your travels may take you!

Today is the Super Bowl! Super Bowl LVI is the ongoing championship game of the National Football League (NFL) for the 2021 NFL season. It is being played between the National Football Conference (NFC) champion Los Angeles Rams and the American Football Conference (AFC) champion Cincinnati Bengals. The game is taking place on February 13, 2022, at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California, United States, the home stadium of the Rams, marking the second-consecutive and second overall Super Bowl to feature a team playing in its home stadium. Did you know that New York hosted Super Bowl XLVIII! I had the pleasure of working in sports before becoming an educator and I even got to meet the commissioner - Roger Goodell! Did you know that February is also Black History Month? I would like to introduce you to - Clementine Hunter. She was a famous memory artist from Louisiana.
Her grandparents were slaves and her parents worked on the plantation where she was born. Hidden Hill had a bad reputation, and many thought it was the inspiration behind the terrible conditions described in the novel Uncle Tom’s Cabin.
At a young age, Clementine moved to Melrose Plantation where she lived and worked until her death in 1988 at age 101.
She first worked in the cotton fields and pecan groves until Miss Cammie Henry, the owner of Melrose, brought her into the "Big House" to clean and cook.
It was here that she came in contact with writers and artists, including New Orleans artist Alberta Kinsley, whose work inspired Clementine to try painting.
Without formal training, she made colorful memory paintings that captured everyday life on Melrose Plantation.
Her paintings are recognized as a narrative telling the story of plantation life during the time before mechanization came to agriculture.
Clementine was illiterate, she couldn’t sign her paintings, so her friend James Register would sometimes sign the paintings on her behalf, or she would mark her work with a backwards C and an H, joined together like a Chinese character.
Clementine Hunter is considered one of the most important self-taught American artists of the 20th century. Her works can be seen in the Smithsonian Institution, The American Folk Art Museum and countless other museums and private collections. My daughter Micah Ortiz recreated one of her paintings! 🥰Try to recreate one of her paintings!
