As part of Mount Sinai Health System's commitment to addressing the mental health needs of under resourced communities, The Mount Sinai Institute for Health Equity Research (IHER), Icahn School of Medicine Centers for Spirituality and HEALTH (CSH) & Stress, Resilience and Personal Growth (CSRPG), and the Department of Psychiatry have collaborated with The HOPE Center, a community mental health clinical affiliated with First Corinthian Baptist Church to increase access to quality, culturally sensitive mental health services for Harlem residents free of charge.

Sneaker Ball 2022 is an annual event hosted by The HOPE Center, dedicated to creating awareness around youth and adult mental health services and programming. The event will take place on Saturday, November 5th from 6 – 10 pm.

On Tuesday, September 14, the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai welcomed 120 first-year medical students to the Class of 2025, during the School’s 24th annual White Coat Ceremony. Held at Lincoln Center’s outdoor venue, Damrosch Park, the ceremony celebrated the Class of 2025’s courage and resilience as they brave a new journey in the face of an ongoing public health crisis.

Recognizing Our Colleagues’ Great Work and Exploring the History of Slavery in New York

Modern Healthcare announced that our colleague Ann-Gel Palermo, DrPH, MPH, Senior Associate Dean for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai and Chief of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in Education and Research for the Mount Sinai Health System, has been named to the 2021 class of Top Diversity Leaders.

This great news comes on the heels of two of our diversity councils receiving national recognition from the Global ERG Network.

A Celebration of Mount Sinai’s Administrative Fellows

The Office for Diversity and Inclusion, along with hospital leaders from across the Mount Sinai Health System, recently hosted a virtual ceremony to celebrate and honor the four young professionals who completed the Health System’s Administrative Fellowship Program in 2021.

The innovative two-year program is designed to recruit, train, and promote underrepresented graduates of master’s degree programs into leadership roles within the Health System. The graduating fellows were Alia Barnes, MPH, Priya Jain, MHA, Alpha Mansaray, MHA, and Emily Spence, MBA.
