Different day. Different group of officers. Same mission:

We recently welcomed another group of officers from the Jay Police Department and Wilton Police Department to Liberty Fi****ms Academy for the second day of their Tactical Pistol Shoot House training.

For law enforcement, some of the most dangerous calls can require officers to enter and navigate structures while searching for an armed or violent threat.

Active shooter incidents.
Home invasions.
Armed suspects inside buildings.
Violent encounters in confined spaces.

Those situations require much more than marksmanship.

Officers spent the day working inside our live-fire shoot house, sharpening critical room-clearing and structure-navigation skills while being challenged to move, process information, identify threats, use available cover, and make decisions as scenarios developed.

The goal isn't simply to shoot faster.

It's to think, move, communicate, and make sound decisions while safely operating a firearm in a complex environment.

Great work by this second group of Jay PD and Wilton PD officers. We appreciate both departments continuing to invest in their officers and their training. 🇺🇸👊

🚨 LAW ENFORCEMENT TACTICAL SHOOT HOUSE TRAINING | JAY PD & WILTON PD 🚨

Another solid day of law enforcement training at Liberty Fi****ms Academy.

Officers from Jay Police Department and Wilton Police Department - Maine recently joined us for the first day of a multi-day Tactical Pistol Shoot House training program.

The focus: sharpening the skills officers may need when a call takes them off the street and inside a structure.

Throughout the day, officers worked through:

🔹 Room clearing and structure navigation
🔹 Doorways, corners, hallways, and confined spaces
🔹 Movement and positioning inside structures
🔹 Proper use of cover
🔹 Close-range engagements
🔹 Threat identification and decision-making
🔹 Live-fire scenarios inside our shoot house
🔹 Problems involving active threats and other violent encounters

There is a massive difference between shooting well on a static range and safely solving problems inside an unfamiliar structure.

This training gives officers an opportunity to work through those problems in a controlled environment before the day comes when the decisions are real.

It was also great having officers from two neighboring departments training together, building familiarity and working from a common foundation—because a major incident rarely cares which town line you're standing on.

ACTIVE SHOOTER RESPONSE: TRAIN BEFORE LIVES DEPEND ON IT.

Recently, we had the privilege of training officers from the Jay Police Department and Wilton Police Department - Maine and Farmington, Maine Police Department during an intensive Active Shooter Response Force-on-Force Training program.

Officers were placed into realistic, high-stress school scenarios involving active shooter role players, innocent civilians, simulated gunfire, noise, confusion, and rapidly changing threats.

We have tremendous respect for these officers and their departments for investing in realistic training before the day comes when these skills may be needed for real.

The time to find weaknesses, build confidence, and improve decision-making is during training—not during a critical incident.
