A wing feather from an Owl. Not sure if it's a Barred Owl or Great Horned. Leaning towards GHO. This one was lying right in the grass, no bird in sight, just evidence that these owl call this land home.

A quick reminder for fellow landowners: under the Migratory Bird Treaty Act, it's illegal to collect or keep feathers from most native birds, owls included — even if you just find them lying around. So this one stays right where it landed, for the next person (or owl) to find.

Moments like this are exactly why we walk properties slowly and look down as much as we look up. You never know what a property is telling you until you're out in it.

Building Nesting Boxes for Native Bees with The Pioneer Unit Herb Society of America (Texas)🐝
We recently spent a wonderful afternoon with The Herb Society of America – Pioneer Unit, a group formed in 1992 in Round Top, Texas, for the charitable and educational purpose of furthering the knowledge and use of herbs.

Back in December 2025, Cedar Hollar presented to the Unit on why native pollinators matter so much to our ecosystem — and especially to the herbs we love to grow. This time, members built their own native solitary bee nest boxes to take home, each one a small piece of pollinator habitat here in Texas.
That's what we do at Cedar Hollar: helping Texans support native pollinator habitats through workshops, presentations, and locally made nest boxes.

Charlie Agar, Charlie Bee Company owner, showed up to The Colorado County Beekeepers monthly meeting with an educational presentation for the new beekeepers and the "seasoned" members in the group.

Armed with an infomative slide deck including MEMES and videos we all left with some valuable beekeeping nuggets🪨

I had the amazing opportunity to present on **Native Texas Pollinators** to the Herb Society Pioneer Unit in Round Top. It was wonderful to share insights about our local ecosystems and the vital role these pollinators play in our environment.

From bees to butterflies, Texas is home to a diverse array of pollinators that enhance our gardens and support biodiversity.
