Developing well-rounded musicians is more than just notes and rhythms. It’s learning how to be leaders, mentors, and the willingness to try something new. The students in symphonic band and concert band get to take turns running warm-ups and being leaders. This supports the opportunity to listen to the band from a different perspective, and develop an understanding for the other side of the podium. It’s been a busy first week in the Band room! Setting up equipment, lockers, covering new learning, and our new band students finding new instruments at our instrument fitting event.

Parents, Community members, Alumni, and families

The Stingray Band program has seen record enrollment for last 3 years in a row. With these record numbers comes rising cost alongside shrinking budgets. An effort to bring added resources to our students and help manage the time and financial need for things like music, copies, paper, ink and binders Mr. Brodie pitched the idea to the IT department to pilot iPads.

The district was on board and was able to provide us with 30 devices to pilot this program. We were anticipating 45 students in jazz band this year and currently are sitting at 40 students enrolled.

This means we are currently 10 devices short of being completely one-to-one for our intended pilot program.

We are gearing up for a great year at NSBMS. To clarify only jazz students need a usbc battery pack for their iPad incase they forget to charge for class. We will have a Band and choir specific materials sheet out soon.

✏️ 📄 💻 26-27 School Supply List - We have brand NEW laptops this year, so considering a case or laptop sleeve for protection is a good idea! 💡 Laptop insurance is available for purchase through Parent Portal.

Last week we had our Band and Choir awards Ceremony to celebrate all our students have achieved this year.
Over 70 sol and Ensemble events, multiple honor Band and Choirs, 32 3rd year Band and choir students going to High school. We would also like to congratulate Emery and Reagan for being selected for the Dale rush band Award for service to the Stingray Band and Christina for receiving the Choir Directors choice award. Well deserved

Check out our recent concert series. We were fortunate to not only showcase the talents of our amazing Band and Choir kids but also have a very unique experience with Pearl Adams Artist Jen Martinez-Bre professional vibraphonist and malletstation artist from south Florida.

What an amazing weekend of Music making for our students who attended the University of South Florida symphonic celebration Honor Band. A big thank you to Dr. Jeff Cayer their clinician and a huge team at the USF school of music who put countless hours behind the scenes to ensure that students have a great educational experience. Music education is very strong at the state of Florida.
