Hey Warhawks! We found out that we did not make it to the round of only 40 division finalists nationwide in the T-Mobile Friday Night 5G Lights contest. BUT we want to say THANK YOU for engaging with our posts during the contest this season!

And more importantly, THANK YOU for continuing to show up for our students and our teams! Your support makes all the difference! Fall sports are on the downhill slide for the season, so check the calendar and come to an upcoming contest or two or three to cheer on your Warhawks!! ❤❤

Senior Warhawk students and families - join us this Wednesday, October 14 between 4:30 - 6:30 p.m. for a free FAFSA Completion Event at North Mahaska!

The FAFSA is the federal application for student aid and can open the door for loans, grants, and scholarships for ALL seniors pursuing postsecondary education, certification, or training.

This critical federal funding form is open for completion. On average, it takes about 8 minutes to complete the form, and we're here to take away the guess work and help you get it completed correctly!

We hope to see you Wednesday between 4:30 - 6:30 p.m. in the high school cafeteria for this free event to check off a really important planning step for senior year.

**Seniors: Please bring a parent/guardian, your laptop, cell phone, and social security number to complete the application process.

Did you know you can catch artistic creations from our North Mahaska art students around town? Artwork is on display at First State Bank and at New Sharon City Hall. These installations rotate throughout the year to showcase new pieces from Warhawk artists. Be sure to check them out!

And take a look at the window mural on Main Street next time you're driving through! The Arts and Visual Culture class has been diligently battling the rain to get this painting completed!

📣Survey Reminder - October 9 Deadline 📣

We're inviting our North Mahaska families, educators, and community to complete the Iowa Department of Education's public feedback survey about the proposed new state assessment. We want to have strong representation from our school community - please take the survey by October 9.

Previously called the Iowa Statewide Assessment of Student Progress or ISASP, the new state summative assessment is built specifically to measure student progress in learning aligned to Iowa Academic Standards and assesses students in grades 3 to 11 in English Language Arts and mathematics. The new assessment includes new content and test questions with new performance levels.

Any Iowan who is interested in providing input on the proposed assessment is encouraged to complete the survey.

It’s Fire Safety week! New Sharon Fire and Rescue will be at North Mahaska Thursday for Fire Prevention. We look forward to this every year.

This years focus is reducing lithium-ion battery fires from everyday devices like phones, laptops, e-bikes, and power tools.

Key Safety Rules

• Use Approved Gear: Only use the charger and cords recommended or approved by the manufacturer.

• Hard Surfaces: Charge devices on hard, flat, and non-flammable surfaces (like a table or floor) rather than soft items like beds, couches, or pillows that trap heat.

• Unplug When Done: Disconnect devices once they are fully charged and avoid leaving them plugged in overnight or unattended.

• Watch for Warning Signs: Stop using and dispose of any battery immediately if it appears hot, swollen, smoking, or damaged.

• Recycle Responsibly: Never throw lithium-ion batteries in regular trash or recycling bins; use a certified local battery recycling center.
