Information for the auditions for The Iona University Theatre Ensemble production of Widower's Houses by George Bernard Shaw

The audition dates are as follows:

Tuesday, August 25 th from 2:15 pm to 3:30 pm
Thursday, August 27 th from 2:15 pm to 3:30 pm
Friday, August 28 th from 2:15 pm to 3:30 pm

Location: The Doorley Auditorium, Doorley Hall

Here is the synopsis

When a young doctor is confronted by the unscrupulous machinery that makes his comfortable life possible, he is forced to make a decision between romance and morality. The importance of being an aware and active participant in our own life is what motivated Shaw to write this provocative comedy.

Seeking the following from the cast list

Harry Trench An aristocratic young doctor who initially represents naive Victorian morality

Maid

William Cokane Trench’s older companion and the representation of superficial propriety

Blanche Sartorius She independent and aggressive but lacks social conscience

Lickcheese Sartorius’s rent collector who undergoes a drastic class transformation

The Iona University Theatre Ensemble 2026 2027 season will include plays spanning the globe and eras with Widowers’ Houses by George Bernard Shaw in autumn 2026 and Two Sisters and a Piano in spring 2027

Very proud of senior, Laila Shakir as she received her graduation cord for her consistent and amazing work with The Iona University Theatre Ensemble. Laila has performed as Sheila Birling in An Inspector Calls, Ann Deever in All My Sons, Petra Stockmann in An Enemy of the People, Marela in Anna in the Tropics, Regina Engstrand in Ghosts and Tekla in Creditors.
