What is Ghunnah? ๐
Today, letโs learn one of the most important sounds in Tajweed: Ghunnah (ุงูุบูููุฉ).
Ghunnah is a nasal sound that comes from the nose and is held for 2 counts in specific Tajweed rules.
๐น Where do we hear Ghunnah?
The clearest example is when ู (Noon) or ู
(Meem) has a Shaddah:
ููู โ ู
ูู
Both are pronounced with a clear nasal sound for 2 counts.
โ
Examples:
ุฅูููู
ุซูู
ูู
Listen to the ูู and ู
ู โ hold the nasal sound gently for 2 counts.
๐ Easy Tip:
ูู + ู
ู = Ghunnah โ 2 Counts
Donโt make the sound from the mouth alone. Ghunnah is a nasal sound.
