This story is an incredible reminder that cardiac arrest can happen anywhere, at any time—and when it does, every second matters.

Because people nearby recognized the emergency, called 911, began lifesaving care, and quickly used an AED, Will is alive today. ❤️

You do not have to be a healthcare professional or first responder to make a difference. CPR training gives everyday people the knowledge and confidence to act until emergency medical services arrive. AEDs are also designed to guide you through each step and will only deliver a shock when one is needed.

Please take a few minutes to read Will’s story, learn where the AEDs are located in the places you visit, and consider becoming CPR certified. You may never expect to use these skills—but someday, you could be the reason someone gets to go home to their family.

This week is CPR & AED Awareness Week, a time to highlight the life-saving impact that CPR and AEDs can have during a cardiac emergency.

Did you know? When someone experiences sudden cardiac arrest, immediate CPR can double or even triple their chance of survival. An AED (Automated External Defibrillator) can further increase those chances by helping restore a normal heart rhythm before emergency responders arrive.

The reality is that emergencies can happen anywhere—at home, at work, on the athletic field, or in the community. Knowing what to do in those first critical minutes can make all the difference.
