This is my student, Rohan. He has been coming to Rock Out Academy for a little over a month, and just upped his lessons to twice a week.

This might not look a big deal, but he is now singing full songs, learning patterns on the keyboard, following my cues on handbells, and learning sequences on Drums.

Each time he shows up, we do more and more and the most important part is that he is enjoying all that Music has to offer. This makes my heart incredibly happy and I’m so proud of him!

I love my job!!!

This is my growing musician, Nicholas. He plays trumpet, keys, sings & screams, and is now playing drums and dabbling with the bass.

He knows so many facts about a bunch of bands, and ones that are obscure. He can tell you all the ways the lineup has changed over the years, facts about the members, years the albums came out, who swapped out for a tour, and watches everything he can find about the bands he likes.

From the time I found out I was pregnant, I was actively drumming and teaching, and when the kids were little, music was everywhere in their lives. I used to quiz them on who the artists were, the names of the song, band trivia, etc.

He started performing in recitals twice a year at age 5, did some acting, and has been in many student rock bands since then, and now he is interested in turntables and working with DJ equipment.

He also will sit at the computer composing classical pieces just for fun, and wrote the opening song for my small musical, Rock the Stage.

To see both of my kids have a vast playlist, talent, knowledge, and love for music makes me super proud. They have such an appreciation for so many genres and artists.
