We are of BSN alumna Sadie Collura! 💛🖤

PHSC Students and Alumni

to recognize BSN alumna Sadie Collura for her courage and quick action when an ordinary afternoon turned into a life-or-death emergency.

When a roofer working on her home was struck by lightning, Sadie drew on the knowledge and confidence she gained through her nursing education to immediately begin CPR and provide care until first responders arrived.

Reflecting on the experience, Collura remained humble. When asked if she believed she saved the roofer's life, she said, "I wouldn't say I saved his life. I would say the Lord saved his life and I was just a vessel for him."

We're incredibly proud of Sadie for embodying the compassion, courage and commitment to serving others that make PHSC alumni extraordinary.

💛 Today the remembers the birthday of Kimberly Ann Montgomery, who dedicated her life to nursing and caring for others. A member of the Pasco-Hernando State College Alumni family, Kimberly served 21 years as a nurse at Morton Plant North Bay Hospital, first as an LPN, then RN and went on to complete her BSN.

🖤 In 2024, Dean of Student Affairs and Title IX Coordinator Laura Raposa, and husband Ben, established the Kimberly Ann Montgomery Scholarship in memory of Laura's sister. Kimberly knew that her calling in life was to be a nurse and care for others from a young age, and her family's hope is that this scholarship will help other like-minded students achieve their goals.

🎀✂️ What an exciting day for the ribbon cutting of the Wilton Simpson Science & Innovation Center at Pasco-Hernando State College East Campus in Dade City! A special thank you to Wilton Simpson, Florida Commissioner of Agriculture and alumnus, for his leadership and support in securing the funding while serving in the Florida Senate, which helped make this one-of-a-kind facility a reality. Thanks to his efforts, PHSC students now have an extraordinary new home for learning, innovation and workforce preparation. 💛🖤

Today, our community will have more opportunities for research, education, high wage jobs. It was an honor to be at the opening of the Science and Innovation Center at PHSC, especially as an alum and a resident of this area for most of my life. I look forward to the great things that are in store for our students and families.
