Happy New everyone! I’ve got a few lesson slots open here at Village Guitar Lessons. Now is a great time to start off the new year by picking up that guitar that’s been collecting dust in the corner and finally learning to play some songs on it. Now that I've settled into the Fall College Semester I've got a few open slots for some new guitar students. Adults and/or beginners are always welcome as well as more advanced players looking to hone their skills. Give me a call and we'll find a spot for you.

Happy Birthday Buddy Holly!
1936, Born on this day, Buddy Holly, singer, songwriter, The Crickets, (1957 US No.1 'That'll Be The Day', 1959 UK No.1 single 'It Doesn't Matter Anymore', plus over 15 other UK Top 40 singles). Influenced The Beatles and The Rolling Stones. Holly was killed in a plane crash on 3rd February 1959. The Big Bopper and Ritchie Valans were also killed in the crash.

Happy Birthday to Leo Fender, inventor and founder of Fender Guitars!

1909, Born on this day, Clarence Leonidas 'Leo' Fender, inventor and founder of the Fender Electric Instrument Manufacturing Company. The Fender Telecaster (1949) was the first mass-produced electric guitar; the Fender Stratocaster (1954) is among the world's most iconic electric guitars and the Fender Precision Bass (1951) set the standard for electric bass guitars. Fender died on 21st March 1991 having long suffered from Parkinson's disease.

Happy Birthday to Les Paul!

1915, Born on this day, guitarist Les Paul, inventor of the Gibson Les Paul guitar who also had a 1953 UK No.7 single with ‘Vaya Con Dios’ and the US No.7 single ‘Hummingbird’ with Mary Ford featuring his multi-layered recording techniques. He also pioneered ‘close miking’ and echo delay recording. He broke his right arm in a car accident and had it set at an angle so he could still play guitar. Paul died in hospital in White Plains, New York at the age of 94 suffering from severe pneumonia on 13th Aug 2009.
