The inaugural Geology and Environmental Science Alumni Day brought dozens of alumni back to campus on Sept. 30 for career conversations, networking and a keynote from Cecia Bicknell ’18. From geologists and educators to researchers working in Antarctica, alumni showed students the many paths a degree can open and the value of staying connected.

The 2026–27 edition of SUNY New Paltz Alumni Magazine, Volume 44, is now available, offering alumni, families, donors and friends a look at the people, ideas and stories shaping the SUNY New Paltz community.⁠

This year’s issue travels from the stars to the stage and into communities across the Northeast. It explores the decades-long evolution of the John R. Kirk Planetarium, the growing Psychology Department and the work of New Paltz alumnae addressing food insecurity. It also dives into a new alumni-student initiative connecting education with career readiness, remembers Theatre Arts pioneer Frank Kraat, and follows alumni continuing a decade-long bird conservation project.⁠

The issue also celebrates the arts, including SUNY New Paltz students’ performances at Carnegie Hall, and offers an expanded collection of Class Notes highlighting the milestones, careers and adventures of fellow alumni.⁠
