And so it begins! This was our fifth time slinging the snacks and spirit wear at 6th grade orientation, and just like every year before: it was a beautiful morning.
Our favorite part about this day is being able to tell every parent and kiddo we meet that they are in great hands here. We have the best 6th grade teachers & staff. They’ll be cared for by the most wonderful admin team. And we’ll be here to make it the most fun along the way. 2026-2027, let’s go! ✏️ 📚 🏫 ❤️

Just when you thought you were out…we pulled you back in.
The NPMS PTA Rat Pack is back for one last job. 🤌
After years of meetings, fundraisers, field trips, dances, raffles and asking people to please just read the email… this is our final year together as a board. So naturally, we’re going out with a bang. 🎲✨

Meet the family:
😎 Nora Scandariato, President: The Boss. She’s got the plan. We’ve learned not to ask too many questions.
🎩 Janine Manley, Co-Vice President: The Fixer. Has a guy for everything. And will absolutely turn a PTA fundraiser into a themed event.
♠️ Jessica Herron, Co-Vice President: The Underboss. Calm, collected, and somehow gets dragged into every scheme anyway.
💰 Katie Walley, Treasurer : The Money. She knows where every dollar is. We do not make a move without Katie.
📝 Erin Korey, Secretary: The Bookie. She has the receipts. Literally. Consider everything you say officially on the record.

And for our last ride? We may have gotten a little carried away. You didn’t hear it from us, but there’s some organized fundraising happening at NPMS.

🛼 Skate Night kicks things off in September, followed by Boo Grams, our Reindeer Raffle, Family Bingo Night, Coin Wars, Decades Co-Rec, Staff Appreciation and more throughout the year.

But there are TWO new events we are especially excited about…

✨ NEW YEAR, OLD GOLD: An adults-only gold-buying fundraiser in January. Dig through those jewelry boxes after the holidays and turn your old gold into some new-year cash while raising money for NPMS.
🎲 VIVA LAS NEW PALTZ! LUCK BE A HUGUENOT TONIGHT: Our big April finale: a Rat Pack-inspired family game night. Old Vegas energy, NPMS style. ♠️♥️♣️♦️
It’s our last year together. We know the ropes. We have absolutely nothing to lose.

A long post probably few will read- but, here we go!

As we share our year end financial report, we wanted to take a moment to talk about what the numbers don’t show.
This was our fourth year as a board, and truthfully, it was hard sometimes.
There was volunteer burnout. There was life. There were schedules, jobs, kids, sports, family obligations, and more late night text threads than we care to admit.

There were moments when we found ourselves practically begging for memberships, sponsorships, and donations because we understand that times feel uncertain for many families right now.

What most people do not see behind the scenes of a PTA is the midnight idea texts (sorry, Katie), the endless emails, the spreadsheets, the meetings, the local businesses who somehow never say no, the incredible support from our administrators, and the determination to keep going even when we are exhausted and would honestly rather do almost anything else than pack one more Boo Gram. (A sincere apology from Janine to literally everyone.)

But then we look at what those hours created.

This year, we helped support:
💙 Rocking Horse Ranch
💙 The Good Vibes Closet
💙 The Japan Exchange Trip
💙 Drama Club and their sound system
💙 ENL Family Night
💙 Red Ribbon Week
💙 8th grade traditions and celebrations
💙 Staff appreciation events
💙 Art Show refreshments
💙 Student enrichment opportunities throughout the year
We hosted events, built community, celebrated our students, supported our staff, and raised a shat ton of money (yes, a shat ton) to give back to New Paltz Middle School.
We love its students and the community that surrounds it. We believe these experiences matter. We believe students deserve them. And as long as we are able, we never want to stop finding ways to give what we can.
Thank you to every family who volunteered, attended an event, became a member, bought a raffle ticket, sponsored a program, donated, or simply cheered us on. Thank you to staff members that showed up for us in any way.

Please don’t forget us next year (it will be our last!):

There is something pretty special about watching 8th graders be kids together one more time and just be kids.
On June 3, our NPMS 8th graders spent the day at making memories that we hope will stay with them long after middle school ends. Between the activities, the laughter, and simply being together, it was the perfect way to celebrate this milestone year.
The cost of this year’s trip was over $20,000, and thanks to the generosity of families, sponsors, donors, and community, the NPMS PTA was able to help make it possible.
From the Wizards Game to the Reindeer Raffle, Bingo Night, Halloween Co Rec, Boo Grams, and countless volunteer hours, every fundraiser throughout the year helped support experiences like this one.
Thank you to every family who attended an event, bought raffle tickets, became a PTA member, volunteered their time, or supported our fundraising efforts. Your contributions helped create a day these students will always remember.
