The Ridge Preschool The Ridge Preschool is a progressive, child-centered preschool program located in the beautiful, historic town of New Paltz, N.Y. www.theridgepreschool.com

At The Ridge Preschool we provide a warm, supportive classroom community in which each child is a valued member. Our school belongs to the children, with the teacher serving as a guide and mentor. We strongly believe that children learn best through hands on experiences and engagement in content that is meaningful to them. At The Ridge Preschool we provide an environment rich in opportunity for these experiences. As we move throughout our day, we do not rush or worry about what will happen next. We focus on process rather than product and by allowing each child’s natural curiosity to unfold; learning remains self-directed and intrinsically motivated. A child who learns because he is truly interested is a child who retains a deeper understanding of what he has discovered.

Did you know that October is National Fire Prevention Month? The New Paltz Fire Department is hosting an Open House on Saturday, October 24, from 12-3 PM at 117 Henry W. Dubois Drive.

The event will include:
Fire prevention activities
Fun for all ages
A chance to see the new pumper tanker
Food and refreshments

All are welcome!

⛵🧒🧑 Parent-Child Sailing: Session 2 Starts August 17 - JUST 4 SPOTS LEFT!

Looking for a fun way to get out on the water together? Parent-Child Sailing is designed for children ages 5–8 and a parent, grandparent, or caregiver—no sailing experience necessary!

August 17–20 | 9 AM–12 PM: Over four hands-on sessions (12 hours total), US Sailing-certified instructors introduce young sailors and their grown-ups to the basics of sailing while building confidence, skills, and great memories together.

Are you looking for a Reggio inspired, child centered preschool for the 2026-2027 school year? If so, I invite you to come for a visit with your child and see what The Ridge Preschool is all about. Our program is a small, home based preschool that nurtures children’s creativity and uniqueness as they grow into lifelong learners and friends. We focus on art and nature to help guide our daily rhythm and our classroom really is like a small family. We have a multi-age group that starts at age 2 1/2.
