Mountain Laurel Waldorf School Classroom hours: 8:15am - 2:55pm Mountain Laurel is an independent school, supported entirely by tuition and contributions.

Parents provide vital assistance not only through their economic contributions but through their countless hours of volunteer effort. For example, a large group of parents remodeled a wing of the school building, creating new office space and a performance and meeting area large enough to accommodate the entire student body. Other parents participate in phonathons for the Annual Fund, assist the a

dministrative office, help plan festivals and events, or become involved in a multitude of other support roles. All these activities provide a fine example of service and community life for our children. Parents who offer their time and talents to the school often find that their offerings become deeply rewarding and meaningful.

Two opportunities are now open to join the Mountain Laurel community.

Afternoon Kindergarten Assistant supports our mixed-age Kindergarten (ages 3–6) through the second half of the school day, maintaining the warmth and rhythm established in the morning and bringing the afternoon to a peaceful close.

Sprouts Assistant supports our morning Sprouts program, a gentle introduction to school life for our youngest children (ages 18 months–3 years).

The people who build the technology are often the first to limit it for their own kids. This week's New York Times piece looks at why so many Silicon Valley leaders choose Waldorf education for their children — not despite its screen-free classrooms, but because of them. Independent thinking, creativity, and genuine human connection don't come from a device. They come from mud pies, knitting needles, and teachers who know a child by name.

It's the same reason we do what we do at Mountain Laurel. We're preparing the next generation of thinkers, builders, and leaders — the ones who will need to think clearly and creatively in a world full of noise.
