It’s almost time for the CELEBRATION OF WRITING DAY (COW)! This event celebrates student writing across multiple genres, Creative Writing, Nonfiction, Journalism, Memoir, Academic Writing and Poetry!

There’s still time to submit! The final, revised submission deadline is Monday, April 21, 2025.

Celebration of Writing Day (COW) will take place on Friday, May 2nd, from 3:30-5:00 p.m., in the library lobby. All students who submit work are invited to read an excerpt of their writing. Awards of distinction will be given to the most outstanding submissions.

English Graduate Program Symposium is TODAY- April 3rd!

The English department is thrilled to announce that award-winning author Ben Lerner will be reading from his work, answering questions, and signing books on Thursday, April 3 in the CSB auditorium at 7:30 pm. Lerner is the author of several volumes of poetry and three novels, including The Topeka School (2019), which won the Los Angeles Times Book Award and was a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize for fiction.

Lerner is the keynote speaker for our 37th English Graduate Symposium, for which ten of our graduate students will present papers and creative works on three panels in the Dorsky Museum beginning at 1:30 pm.
