We are to recognize Gail Kemney, Speech Language Pathologist, and Hannah Bowman, Occupational Therapist, who recently presented “Motor Mouths: A Preschool OT-SLP Collaboration Developing Sensorimotor Foundations for Communication” at the POTA Conference at Elizabethtown College on September 26, 2026.

Gail and Hannah have been working together to bridge their disciplines and create unique, meaningful learning opportunities for preschool-aged students with special education needs. By combining their expertise in speech-language development and occupational therapy, they are helping build the sensorimotor foundations that support communication, participation, and learning.

Their commitment to interdisciplinary collaboration is a wonderful example of how working together can expand possibilities and create stronger outcomes for students. 👏💙

We are proud and excited to celebrate one of our amazing students, Shyla, and her family as they participated in the 2026 NYC Buddy Walk® in support of the incredible work of the National Down Syndrome Society (NDSS), in September.

This year’s Buddy Walk was extra special for Shyla and her family. After being selected from hundreds of photo submissions, Shyla was featured in a special video presentation on the iconic Times Square Jumbotron screens before the Buddy Walk began! 🌟 Seeing her beautiful smile shining in the heart of New York City was a truly memorable moment and a wonderful celebration of individuals with Down syndrome.

Shyla reminds us every day of the importance of celebrating milestones, embracing differences, and creating opportunities for every individual to be seen, included, valued, and supported.

As we celebrate Down Syndrome Awareness Month, we are proud to recognize Shyla and all individuals with Down syndrome who inspire us with their joy, determination, and unique contributions to our communities.

Last month, our ELECT parents enjoyed a fun-filled day with their children at Penn Oaks Park in York, PA! Families gathered for a cookout, enjoyed delicious food, relaxed, and connected with one another in a welcoming outdoor setting. 🍔🌭

Beyond the food and fun, the picnic provided an opportunity for teen parents to create positive memories and enjoy meaningful quality time with their children outside of their everyday routines.

As part of the day, parents participated in an educational activity focused on the importance of play. Parents learned that play is about much more than entertainment, it is a powerful way to build strong relationships, encourage healthy development, and help children feel loved, supported, and connected.

We’re to support our teen moms and dads as they continue to grow, connect, and create meaningful memories with their children! 🌟

Nathan created this beautiful texture-inspired landscape, and we couldn’t be more proud of his creativity and hard work 🤩

His teacher, Rachel Shreve from the Franklin Learning Center, shared:
“I am so proud of Nathan! During his most recent art project, I saw an incredible amount of independence. He did an excellent job engaging in the project, making choices for himself, and expressing himself creatively! It was so wonderful to see him take ownership of his artwork and show just how much he is capable of doing!”

🗣️💙 What happens when we bring the worlds of English Language Development Specialists, Special Education Educators, and Speech/Language Pathologists together? Powerful collaboration focused on better supporting students!

We had a packed house with more than 45 SLPs, special educators, and ELD specialists joining us for Beyond Words: Supporting English Learners with Significant Communication Needs, recently.

Throughout the day, participants explored how language development, disability, communication, and culture intersect- and how collaborative teams can better support multilingual learners with complex communication needs.

One of the most valuable parts of the day was simply having these professionals in the same room, learning from one another and looking at students through multiple lenses. Supporting these learners cannot happen in isolation. It takes shared expertise, thoughtful collaboration, and a commitment to recognizing both students’ communication needs and their multilingual strengths.

We are so grateful to everyone who joined us and contributed their knowledge, questions, and experiences. It was exciting to see a packed room of professionals committed to doing this work together!
