Found out today my 13th great grandma was lady-in-waiting to Queen Elizabeth I and my 13th great grand uncle dated the queen! OH...and my 13th great aunt survived!

My 2nd cousin 5x removed, Rev. Leonard Marsden Gardner and wife, Anna (Rhodes) Gardner, on the porch of their York Springs home!

Hopefully this colorized image brightens your day! We found the following inscribed on the back of the phtograph: "Front view of the house after the new porch was built. LMG" This was once the home of the Gardner family. Rev. & Mrs. Leonard M. Gardner are standing on the porch.

I've been doing some more work on Natasha's tree lately. Today I found out that her 5th cousin 12 times removed, was Rebecca (Towne) Nurse. Rebecca was born in 1621 in England and died on July 19, 1692 in Salem, Mass. She was accused of being a witch and was hanged during the infamous Salem Witch Trials. Her story was portrayed in Arthur Miller's, The Crucible.

Anyone who has ever gotten to know me, knows I have a great love for Ancient Egypt. Ever since I was 7 years old, anything to do with the ancient civilization has intrigued me. Recently, I discovered a family link, through my Swiger side, that makes sense of my life-long passion.

It is a bit distant, but my 7th cousin 5x removed was the infamous George Herbert, 5th Earl of Carnarvon. Lord Carnarvon funded and went on the King Tutankhamen excavation in the early 1920's with Howard Carter! Unfortunately, he was the one who "fell victim" to the "mummy's curse" and died from a mosquito bite in 1923.

The picture below shows Lord Carnarvon, next to his daughter, Lady Evelyn Herbert, and Howard Carter, standing slightly apart. They were standing at the entrance to King Tutankhamen's tomb!

Lord Carnarvon's home was Highcleare Castle, which most people know today from the popular tv show (my favorite show) Downton Abbey!
