Though the rain may have changed our plans, it could not dampen the spirit and excitement of this unforgettable day.
Set against the inspiring backdrop of Franklin Avenue Baptist Church, the Dillard University 2026 Commencement Ceremony was a powerful celebration of achievement, resilience, and legacy.
2026 Commencement speaker, Congressman Troy A. Carter Sr. charged graduates to walk boldly and never forget their power as they step into the next chapter of their journeys.
The celebration also honored the enduring bonds of the Bleu Devil family as the Class of 1976 commemorated their 50th reunion and the Class of 2001 celebrated their 25th reunion.
We were also proud to welcome Lt. Gen. Russel L. HonorƩ and Beverly McKenna into the Dillard family as they took the oath and officially became Dillard alumni after being conferred honorary degrees for their selfless service and impact on the community.
To the Class of 2026: we wish you success, purpose, and limitless possibilities as you go forth to impact the world in extraordinary ways.
Fair ye well.

This week, Dillard University and the city of New Orleans had the pleasure of honoring the legacy of our very own Dr. S. Carver Davenport. Joined by family, friends, colleagues and students, Dr. Davenport was honored by receiving his very own honorary street sign, located just outside the gates of Dillard University. This is just one of the many well deserved honors for Dr. Davenport, congratulations on 50+ years of an incredible legacy!
