Congratulations to the members of the LSU New Orleans community that have been named in Gambit’s 40 Under 40! These honorees have been selected as “exceptional New Orleanians” that showcase the best parts of our city.
Gregory Agid (39) is a Musician and Co-Founder and Executive Director of the nonprofit Second Line Arts Collective. He is celebrating Second Line Arts Collective’s 10th anniversary.
Nikki Ummel (36) is a Poet, Specialty Writer at Park Evaluations, and Executive Director of LMNL Arts. She won the 2025 New American Poetry Prize for her forthcoming collection “Swamp Elegies".
Skye Jackson (36) is a Poet whose poem “Can we touch your hair” was included in the Library of Congress’ Poetry 180 Project.
Alexandra Holliday (26) is a Policy and Development Strategist at Celebrate Canal! Coalition and a Graduate Research Assistant at LSU New Orleans.
Kyle Roussel (38) is a Musician whose Grammy-Nominated album “Church of New Orleans” features 37 New Orleans musicians.
Julianne Lagniappe (39) is a Costume Designer, Garment Maker, and Visual Artist. She serves as a lead artist at the immersive museum JAMNOLA.
Ryan Gilbert (34) is an Educator, Artist, DJ, and Storyteller. In 2022, Black Education for New Orleans (BE NOLA) recognized Gilbert with its Black is Brilliant: Teacher of the Year award.
Aubrey Allison (34) is an Online Content Creator known as AubreyAvocado. She is the founder of Platform Creative Company and has over 100 million views across social media platforms.
Joshua Starkman (38) is a Musician and Creator of Have a Great Day. He is a content creator and former Mayoral Candidate.

Based on the latest storm projections, LSU New Orleans plans to resume normal operations tomorrow. All classes will be held in person.
We will continue to monitor weather conditions and will communicate any changes promptly. Please continue to check your email and the university's official communication channels for the latest updates.

LSU New Orleans will transition to remote instruction on Wednesday, July 22nd, due to the tropical storm in the Gulf.
Campus operations will otherwise continue as normal. Employees who believe weather conditions may impact them should discuss remote work arrangements with their supervisor.
Additional updates will be provided as needed. Thank you for your patience and cooperation as we prioritize the safety of our students, faculty, and staff.

Guest speaker Mark Pyle from Facilities spoke to students about our campus solar energy farm, with a tour and Q&A session! 💡
Students got creative with their modifications, decorating and assembling solar cars and boats. 🚙📡
Then, we journeyed to the pond on campus to test drive their creations! ⛵
