Did you know New Orleans scholars are making some of the strongest academic progress in the country?

Stanford’s updated Educational Opportunity Trends Project ranks New Orleans #1 in Louisiana and #5 nationally among the 1,000 largest districts for reading and math growth from 2022–2025.

Élan is proud to be part of that progress. Since our founding, we have remained focused on growing scholars year after year and our B Progress Index reflects that commitment.

At Élan, what our scholars read matters. 📚 Learn more at Back to School Night Tonight!

Across grades 5–8, scholars study stories that build knowledge, stretch their thinking, and challenge them to read, write, and speak with purpose. From Wonder and Esperanza Rising to Night and Romeo and Juliet, these texts invite meaningful conversations about courage, identity, justice, leadership, and the choices that shape our world.

This is the Élan difference: rich texts, high expectations, and thoughtful discussion that prepares scholars for high school and beyond.
