The latest LEAP results show continued academic momentum across New Orleans public schools. Since 2021, Orleans Parish has grown from 19% to 31% Mastery+ across all grades and subjects — a 12-point increase and stronger growth than the state and peer districts.

The gains are also reaching students across the city. Performance improved for all major student groups, including Black students, Hispanic students, economically disadvantaged students, English learners, and students with disabilities.

These gains reflect the work of students, educators, school leaders, and families across our city. The work continues, but New Orleans is moving in the right direction.

Last week, leaders, educators, and advocates from across the country gathered in New Orleans for the 2026 National Charter Schools Conference. As this year’s host city, New Orleans had an important story to tell—one rooted in the commitment of our students, families, educators, school leaders, and community partners.

Thank you to everyone who visited our city, shared ideas, and learned alongside us. We hope you leave New Orleans inspired and ready to carry the conversation forward in your own communities.

Last Thursday, we celebrated our Literacy Leaders Cohorts 1 and 2! 📚✨Together, we honored the commitment, growth, and leadership of these incredible educators and celebrated Cohort 1 as they completed the full two-year Literacy Leaders program.

The summer program is a dynamic, immersive learning experience designed to provide participants with a well-rounded understanding of the education ecosystem in New Orleans. This special edition is designed with educators in mind, providing a space to explore the historical and current realities shaping our school system. Participants will examine its successes, address its challenges, and leave better equipped to advocate for a more just and equitable future.
