Soror Spotlight! Over the past year, Basileus Sykes had the opportunity to serve as an intern with Deep South Environmental Justice, where she worked alongside concerned citizens of St. John Parish. Through her skills in film and mass communication, she helped highlight environmental justice issues and gained a deeper understanding of Cancer Alley, including the impacts of petrochemical pollution, elevated cancer risks, respiratory issues, and other chronic health conditions.
This past weekend she had the honor of presenting my work at the 11th Annual HBCU Climate Change Conference. Keep up the good work Soror! πππ©
