Where the forest speaks, Sabine Greeson listened. 🌿🎧

Senior student Sabine Eris Greeson brought the sounds, textures, and stories of Ecuador’s Chocó rainforest to Tulane through a stunning interdisciplinary exhibition in Carroll Gallery .

Combining environmental biology and art, Greeson created layered cyanotypes using native plant specimens collected during two summers of fieldwork in Ecuador. Their installation was paired with immersive field recordings captured using recording equipment checked out from Tulane Libraries — preserving the voices of toucans, frogs, monkeys, insects, and an ecosystem under threat.

Earlier this spring, Greeson also shared these recordings during Intentional Listening, Tulane Libraries’ annual sound series exploring the power of listening as research, reflection, and connection.

This project is a reminder that Libraries support more than books — they help students create, document, research, and tell stories that matter.

This spring, Tulane University Libraries has its own reason to celebrate Commencement 🎓💚

Please join us in congratulating Breanna Martin, Circulation & Interlibrary Loan Library Technician, on earning her Master of Public Health in Epidemiology from the Celia Scott Weatherhead School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine!

Balancing graduate coursework with a full-time role at the Libraries, Breanna spent countless long days moving from work straight to evening classes downtown — all while continuing to serve the Tulane community with dedication and care.

“I saw the importance of epidemiology in real-time and was inspired by all the work being done by public health professionals,” Breanna shared. “Health is a human right, and at the end of the day I just want to help people.”

During her graduate studies, Breanna also worked as a research assistant on a meta-analysis examining global hypertension trends and disparities, earning co-authorship on a scholarly paper alongside Dr. Katherine Mills and Dr. Samantha O’Connell.

Breanna credits the Libraries community for helping support her journey:
“Getting to work in a place where everyone values knowledge and genuinely wants you to succeed really helped me through the long days.”

Tulane University Libraries Team Wins ARLIES Award for Best Collections-Focused Film

Congratulations to the talented team of Rawad Nahhas, Alan Velasquez, Becky O'Malley Gipson, and student intern Ty’hja Cooper for bringing home another Association of Research Libraries win for Tulane University Libraries!

At the 11th annual ARLIES Film Festival, featuring 49 videos from ARL member institutions and showcased at the ARL Spring Association Meeting in Knoxville and via livestream, the team earned Best Collections-Focused Film for their video on the Women’s Wear Daily Archive. Created for Katherine Hicks in Scholarly Engagement.

Tulane University Libraries’ winning video highlights full online access to the Women’s Wear Daily archive, spanning every issue from 1910 to today, brought to life with a perfect blend of relevant detail and swagger.

Tulane University Libraries is seeking a Library Coordinator II to join our team at Howard-Tilton Memorial Library in New Orleans.

This role supports the behind-the-scenes work that keeps our collections moving and accessible—working with stacks management, mailroom operations, and library systems that help organize and track materials across the library.

As a Library Coordinator II, you’ll:
• Help shelve and organize library materials throughout the stacks
• Support shifting and planning physical collections
• Update item records in the Alma Integrated Library System (ILS)
• Assist with lost or missing materials workflows
• Support mailroom services and serve as backup for courier operations
• Occasionally assist with special collections projects across Tulane University Libraries
• Supervise student workers in the mailroom (as needed)

We’re looking for someone who is:
• Flexible, collaborative, and detail-oriented
• Comfortable learning and using library systems and technology
• Able to move materials, including carts and items up to 50 lbs
• Comfortable working in a dynamic, hands-on physical environment
• Ready to support a team that keeps library services running smoothly

Some places on campus become more than just study spots, they become part of your story.

For graduating senior Emily Kreller, the fifth floor of the library was one of those places. A space for studying, working, dreaming, and figuring out what comes next, it became important enough to document in her graduation photos. The fifth floor desktop was also where Emily wrote her award-winning honors thesis, work that led to her receiving the Shelley Coverman Memorial Award.

Emily’s journey at Tulane has been shaped by curiosity, creativity, and a deep commitment to helping others. From engineering dreams to education, communications, and social innovation, her path has evolved, but her goal has stayed the same: making people’s lives better.

A Communications and Social Innovation graduate, Emily has been involved with , the Leaders Program, and Community Engagement Advocates while exploring everything from political communication to design thinking for social impact. Next up, she hopes to pursue a Master’s in Public Administration and continue building community-centered work through the nonprofit and social impact world. But first, she’s turning her thesis into a zine with the help of the Scholarly Engagement department at Tulane libraries.

We’re honored the library could be part of her Tulane story.

Tulane University Libraries is hiring an Operations Supervisor to support an exciting, large-scale digitization partnership with Google Books!

This multi-year project will help digitize more than 120,000 books, expanding access and supporting long-term digital preservation through HathiTrust.

In this role, the Operations Supervisor will:
• Serve as the primary contact between Tulane University Libraries and Google
• Oversee workflows including technical processing, barcoding, shipping, and reshelving materials
• Coordinate with library departments, student workers, and Google project teams
• Manage logistics, schedules, and project operations for a major digitization initiative
• Support the preservation and accessibility of library collections for future generations

Preserving history, one image at a time. 📸🏛️

Three Tulane students — Sasha Karasik, Sophia Clements, and Nika Kirsanova — are helping bring the extraordinary photographic archive of William Craft Brumfield online for scholars and the public around the world.

Through a series of independently developed WordPress sites, the students organized, captioned, researched, and published thousands of images documenting Russian architecture, Soviet modernism, icon screens, and Jewish cultural heritage sites across Russia. Their work transforms decades of photographic documentation into accessible digital resources for future generations.

This project was supported by Tulane Libraries’ Innovative Learning Center (ILC), whose technical guidance helped make these archival websites possible. The archive also builds on Professor Brumfield’s internationally recognized scholarship, including the many books published through Duke University Press.

From metadata management and Photoshop editing to historical research and digital storytelling, these students helped preserve a visual record of places, histories, and communities that may otherwise be lost to time.

We celebrated the incredible work of seven students from the School of Architecture and the Built Environment’s Design Program at last week’s Student-Designed Furniture + Video Game Reception!

Guests explored innovative furniture prototypes, met the student designers, and heard directly from the artists during a lively talk. The evening also featured presentations and exclusive game demos from three Digital Media Practices students showcasing their capstone projects.
