Due to anticipated severe weather conditions in the New Orleans area, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. School will be closed tomorrow to ensure the safety of our students, families, and staff. At this time, we anticipate resuming school on Tuesday, provided weather conditions improve and it is safe to do so. We will continue to closely monitor the situation and share updates as needed. As we mark the 20th of Hurricane Katrina, we honor the remarkable journey of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Charter School and the Lower Ninth Ward community. From the devastation of 2005 to the reopening in 2007, our school has stood as a beacon of hope, resilience, and determination—remaining the only school serving this proud community. We remember the lives lost, celebrate the progress made, and reaffirm our promise to educate, elevate, and empower every child. We are still here. Still serving. Still 🙏👏🫶🏽
