The Ruby Elephants have been getting to know one another through something we all experience every day: feelings. Through feelings masks, loose-part faces, and self-portraits, the children have been exploring the many ways we can express what is happening inside of us. Beginning the year with feelings gives the Rubies a shared language they can return to throughout the year as they navigate friendships, big emotions, moments of joy, and all the feelings that come and go in their classroom community.

The International Coalition of Girls' Schools has featured Little Gate Pedagogista Sarah Noland's reflections on her immersive study of the Reggio Emilia approach to early childhood education. In her article, Sarah reflects on how Reggio-inspired practices shape learning at Little Gate and honors Adelaide Wisdom Benjamin '50 and her lasting impact on faculty growth through the Peggy McGehee Wisdom Scholarship Fund, which made this learning experience possible.

Our Little Gate Pink Gators explored the many shades of pink through paint, making marks, mixing colors, and noticing how the paint moved across the paper. What began with paintbrushes became an opportunity to discover new ways to create, investigate color and texture, and experience the process of making art.

Meet Jessica Twombly, our new Three-Year-Old Teacher at Little Gate. With 12 years of experience across Montessori, special education, early literacy, and instructional coaching, Jessica brings a passion for connecting literacy and play in the classroom. She is excited to foster a classroom of curious learners through play.

Meet Andre Herrera, McGehee's new Auxiliary Programs Assistant. With more than a decade of experience in film and television production, Andre brings a background in logistics and project management to his work supporting our aftercare, enrichment, and camp programs. He is also a McGehee dad and is looking forward to building connections across our community.

The Plum Pelicans' curiosity about cooking has turned into hands-on exploration in the classroom. Recently, they became chefs for snack, turning watermelon slices into "pizzas" with yogurt sauce and their choice of fruit toppings.
