The Purple Butterflies have reached so many exciting milestones this school year. They are learning to walk, talk, and feed themselves. They are transitioning from cribs to nap mats and discovering a love for art, books, and outdoor play. These important moments have helped build confidence, independence, and curiosity that will serve them well in the year ahead.

The Louise S. McGehee School Board of Trustees is proud to announce the appointment of Dr. Catherine "Cathy" Atwell as McGehee's fourteenth Head of School since 1912. Dr. Atwell will officially begin her tenure on July 1, 2027.
Reflecting on her selection, Dr. Atwell shared, "McGehee is special. It stands shoulder to shoulder with the best independent girls' schools in the country, but does so on its own terms and with its own New Orleans flair."
We are thrilled to welcome Dr. Atwell to the McGehee community and look forward to the leadership, vision, and joyful spirit she will bring to this exciting new chapter for our school.

At Little Gate, we believe learning is more meaningful when families are part of the journey. From classroom activities to special events, there are many ways for parents to get involved, including joining the cast of Peter Rabbit.

A few children's interest in babies sparked a collaborative "Baby Project" in the Red Gators classroom centered on care, connection, and imagination. Students explored nurturing through feeding, rocking, and creating routines with donated books and baby items. The project continues with hands-on experiences like baby bath time and designing and decorating their own cribs.
