Following FDA & CDC authorization, and with LDH guidance, the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine is now approved for children ages 5-11. COVID vaccines slow the spread by reducing kids’ risk of infection, and minimize disruptions to in-person learning in school.

The City of New Orleans announced the launch of a new program to assist Orleans Parish residents impacted by Hurricane Ida.
Beginning today, applications will accepted for the Hurricane Ida Insurance Deductible Program.

Anyone affected by can now meet with FEMA specialists at a temporary disaster recovery center located at the New Orleans Public Library, 1st floor, 219 Loyola Ave. Hours of operation are Mon-Thurs, 10:30am to 5:30pm, Fri and Sat 10:30am to 4:30pm. Closed Sundays.

The Disaster Supplement Nutrition Assistance Program (DSNAP) has been approved for Orleans Parish. DSNAP provides food assistance to eligible households who need help buying groceries due to Hurricane Ida:
1) Learn more by texting LADSNAP to 898211 or visit dcfs.la.gov/DSNAP.
2) Call 1-888-524-3578 to apply and interview with the State to receive DSNAP benefits (between 7:30am-6pm):
-Mon 9/20: residents with last names A-F
-Tue 9/21: last names G-M
-Wed 9/22: last names N-S
-Thu 9/23: last names T-Z
-Fri 9/24: all last names in Orleans Parish
-Sat 9/25: all last names in Orleans Parish
