As we remember our fallen heroes this Memorial Day, a special thank you to the Southern Yacht Club of New Orleans for hosting another fantastic Defenders Challenge 2026. The conditions lived up to the name and our newest Tulane Ensigns were more than a match, well done !!!

On Friday, Tulane NROTC proudly commissioned 7 new officers into the United States Navy and Marine Corps. Congratulations to Ensigns Cattan, Hambrick, Johnson, Mounts, Spangler, Wright, and Second Lieutenant Yeomans on this incredible accomplishment and the culmination of years of hard work and dedication. We are proud to call you alumni of TUNROTC and look forward to seeing the impact each of you will make in the Fleet and Fleet Marine Force.
Thank you to all the family, friends, staff, and supporters who joined us both in person and virtually to celebrate this special occasion.

Tulane NROTC is proud to announce that 2LT Naulls has officially commissioned as an officer in the United States Marine Corps! On Friday, TUNROTC held the first of two commissioning ceremonies this spring, marking an incredible milestone in her journey to service. We are proud of all she has accomplished and know she will continue to represent the battalion well as she begins the next chapter at TBS. Best of luck, 2LT Naulls — and stay tuned for our next commissioning and joint commissioning ceremony on 15 MAY at 0900!

Senior Spotlight
Grace Wright is from Durham, North Carolina and is majoring in Homeland Security with a minor in Russian. Selected to serve as a Surface Warfare Officer, her favorite leadership role in the unit was Assistant Admin Department Head, where she enjoyed stepping up to help run admin operations behind the scenes and preparing for the responsibilities of being a department head.
Her favorite summer cruise was her 1/C SWO cruise, where she earned her blue chip. During her time in the battalion, she learned the importance of attention to detail and effective time management.
Outside of ROTC, she enjoys reading the Bible, rock climbing, and practicing karate.

For our final leadership lab of the semester, we honored our Spring 2026 semester award recipients and all Midshipmen for such a successful semester. Thank you to all of our community members for their generous support of the unit. Next up… summer cruise!

Last week the Battalion conducted a PNS whites inspection, conducted by CO CAPT Heely. Overall, strong attention to detail and professionalism across the board as we head in to the summer.

Senior Spotlight
Oliver Yeomans is from Orinda, California and is a Real Estate Development major. Selected to serve in the Marine Corps, his favorite leadership role in the unit was Marine Platoon Commander.
His favorite memory was Marine Month. During his time in the battalion, he learned how to balance distractions with professional obligations and appreciated how the unit encouraged involvement in extracurriculars and university life.
Outside of ROTC, Oliver enjoys working out, reading, and spending time with friends.

This morning we held our battalion change of command. As the semester comes to an end, we would like to recognize the exceptional leadership of MIDN 1/C Yeomans as he passes the torch onto MIDN 2/C Thompson.

Senior Spotlight
Souvenah Naulls was raised in Maryland and is currently pursuing a degree in English. She has embraced the challenges and opportunities that come with the unit. Throughout her time in the battalion, her favorite leadership role has been serving as Platoon Sergeant.
Among the many experiences gained, her favorite memory was OCS. The unit has played a significant role in shaping her perspective, teaching her many lessons, everything except map work.
Outside of ROTC, Souvenah enjoys drawing, reading, and eating, while continuing to grow both personally and academically.
What Souvenah values most about her time in the unit is the leadership development, camaraderie, and lessons that will carry forward into future success.
