Day 100! What a joy to record the beauty and wonder in this cozy space. I’ll continue to sit outside every day with my sweet cat; I hope you also find ways to love and appreciate the tiny gifts from nature all around you. Wild beings need our support; we humans take up a lot of space and resources! Whatever you do, may you find joy and delight. πŸ’•πŸ’•πŸ’•

Cosmos and the beautiful oaks across the street. I adore big shade trees and have never understood people who prioritize no leaves/flowers on their their cars or a pristine street over the abundance of gifts that come from trees. I am still heartbroken over the two healthy 80+ year old sycamores that neighbors cut down indiscriminately, a few years ago. It was like losing two dear friends. They had survived Katrina! The future I want is one that reveres and protects trees, as much as we can. Day 99 of finding beauty and wonder in our little New Orleans yard.

Aww good morning, baby brown anole! She wandered toward me, all curious. Brown anoles are so bold; this time of year they are scooting across sidewalks and lawns everywhere. Day 97 of finding wonder in our little New Orleans yard.

Our southern bay tree is putting out its berries- the chickadees and other birds love them! It’s a beautiful tree and so great for wildlife. Day 91 of finding beauty and wonder in our little New Orleans yard.

The pine tree- the biggest tree in our yard and pretty much the only thing that was in the yard when we bought this house more than 25 years ago. All the other trees and plants, fences and garden, we put in over the years. There have been many many iterations, and the garden is shadier now, with a lean toward native species. This tree is beloved by squirrels, blue jays, mockingbirds, cicadas, downy woodpeckers, and more. Mississippi kites perch in the high branches, sometimes hawks as well. Lizards scurry up and down the trunk. It’s a gorgeous living being. Day 90 of finding wonder in our beautiful New Orleans yard.

Little vine climbing the magnolia tree. I love how the leaves change color toward the growing tip. Day 89 of finding wonder in our lovely little New Orleans yard.
