At St. Andrew's Episcopal School, our teaching philosophy emphasizes hands-on and project-based learning, as we believe students learn more effectively and retain information better by applying their knowledge to real-life situations. A recent project involved our enthusiastic second graders writing friendly letters to their first-grade friends. This activity not only served as an exercise in writing skills but also provided a chance to practice empathy and communication.

Through this project, students improved their writing skills by working on sentence structure, spelling, and grammar in a fun and meaningful context. They also developed interpersonal skills by considering the perspectives and interests of others, which helped foster a sense of community and connection. Sharing their thoughts and ideas through letters boosted their self-esteem and confidence in their ability to communicate effectively. By participating in a project involving their friends, students experienced joy in learning, making it an enjoyable and rewarding process.

At St. Andrew's, we are dedicated to creating an environment where students are inspired to explore, create, and connect, and we look forward to continuing to offer opportunities for meaningful, real-world projects that support their growth and development.

Students at St. Andrew’s Episcopal School learn through play. A great example is parachute play during PE for our younger students. Students enjoy making waves, a tent, a mountain, or a rocket with a colorful fabric parachute. Parachute games bring a playful sense of surprise to physical education while giving everyone a reason to join in. The joy comes from doing something together. Students watch the parachute rise, listen for the next instruction, and feel the group respond to their movements. Along the way, the activity gives them age-appropriate opportunities to practice teamwork, communication, coordination, and confidence—without taking the fun out of the lesson. Our students look forward to daily PE throughout their time at St. Andrew’s Episcopal School.

The Cottage Frogs Class is off to a fantastic start this school year, and we couldn't be more excited to share the joy and enthusiasm radiating from our students. Each day is an adventure filled with learning, laughter, and growth.

Our students delight in a variety of engaging activities that cater to their interests and developmental needs. Here's a glimpse of what they enjoy:
✨ Circle Time: A cherished part of our day where we gather to share stories, sing songs, and discuss our plans. It’s a wonderful opportunity for children to practice listening and speaking skills, all while building a sense of community.
✨ Centers: These hands-on learning stations offer our students the chance to explore different subjects, such as art, science, and math, through interactive and stimulating activities.
✨ Free Play: We believe in the power of play as a crucial aspect of child development. During free play, children engage in creative exploration and social interaction, fostering independence and collaboration.

At St. Andrew's Episcopal School, we pride ourselves on providing a small, loving environment where every child is known, loved, and cherished. Our dedicated educators meet each student where they are, providing personalized attention and support to help them grow and blossom.
