Abeona House is a nonprofit, Reggio Emilia–inspired early childhood center in New Orleans. We believe children learn best through play, curiosity, & community.

Our classrooms are joyful, inclusive, and rooted in care for children, families, and educators. This is the place for prospective families and community members to learn more about our school.

✨🐰 Inside 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗥𝗮𝗯𝗯𝗶𝘁 𝗕𝘂𝗿𝗿𝗼𝘄 🐰✨

Our Rabbit Burrow Bunnies are our curious and busy 2-year-olds, growing, exploring, and discovering the world around them- and even turning 3 during their time in the classroom!

With the guidance of teachers Sheneka and Rachel, our little learners engage in hands-on investigations that encourage curiosity and discovery. From exploring everyday objects and their different textures to sorting, painting, investigating, and discovering the natural world around them, learning happens through meaningful experiences and play. 🌿🔦🎨

At this age, children are also developing important social-emotional, physical, language, and cognitive skills. Through movement, conversations, books, pretend play, problem solving, and interactions with their peers, our Bunnies are building confidence and making sense of the world around them.

In true Reggio Emilia-inspired fashion, we believe even the smallest discoveries can lead to meaningful learning. 💛

🦋 A Glimpse Into Our Butterfly Garden Classroom 🦋

Welcome to 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗕𝘂𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗳𝗹𝘆 𝗚𝗮𝗿𝗱𝗲𝗻, our 4-year-old classroom, where teachers Emily and Kennesha create a warm and nurturing space for learning, exploration, and discovery! 🌿

As a Reggio Emilia inspired school, we believe that the 𝗘𝗻𝘃𝗶𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗧𝗵𝗶𝗿𝗱 𝗧𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗿. Through thoughtfully arranged materials, meaningful dialogue, play, and relationships, Emily and Kennesha create an environment that grows and changes alongside the children. 🌈

The classroom truly belongs to its children. Their ideas, interests, questions, and learning experiences help shape the space and tell the story of all that happens within its walls. 🧡

⚽️ 𝑺𝑶𝑪𝑪𝑬𝑹 𝑭𝑼𝑵 𝑨𝑻 𝑨𝑩𝑬𝑶𝑵𝑨 𝑯𝑶𝑼𝑺𝑬! ⚽️

We had an amazing time with Soccer Shots during their 𝗙𝗿𝗲𝗲 𝗙𝘂𝗻 𝗗𝗮𝘆! Our children had so much fun staying active, practicing their soccer skills, and enjoying a day full of movement, laughter, and play! 🥅 ⚽️

The fun doesn’t have to stop here! Abeona House Families can now sign their child up to play soccer at Abeona House for the new season, running September 1st through December 1st! ⚽️🧡💙

Today, our children had the opportunity to participate in a FREE vision screening right here at school! We are so grateful to the 𝗟𝗼𝘂𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗮𝗻𝗮 𝗟𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗘𝘆𝗲 𝗙𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 for coming out and providing this important service to our children. 🦁✨

Early vision screenings help support healthy development and learning, and we're proud to partner with organizations that help our children see their brightest future! 🌟

A big 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗸 𝘆𝗼𝘂 to the Louisiana Lions Eye Foundation for caring for our little learners! 💙

🧡 Today is GiveNOLA Day 🧡

As of this morning, we’re 17% of the way to our $7,500 goal, and we’re working to get to 100% by midnight tonight!

This year has reminded us just how important it is to show up for one another. Early childhood education is deeply under-supported, and spaces like Abeona exist because our community chooses to invest in them.

Today, we’re coming together to help build a new outdoor playground for our kids. A space for climbing, exploring, learning, and simply being children.

🧡 GiveNOLA early giving is now OPEN 🧡

Abeona House is coming together with our community and friends to raise $7,500 as our contribution toward Stage 1 of a new outdoor playground, part of a recently awarded NORA grant.

This space is designed for what childhood should look like:
climbing, exploring, getting messy, making music, and learning through joy.

It will support early learning, curiosity, sustainability, and connection for some of New Orleans’ littlest learners!
