DECAF serves as a supplemental CTE program that builds out full 9-credit Carnegie Unit TOPS Tech career pathways—ideally offered after school—with flexible in-person or remote delivery, integrating work-based learning, internships, and industry-based certification (IBC) preparation and attainment; as a Louisiana Course Choice provider, there is no cost to the school or students, with state funding covering participation once enrolled, while students gain hands-on, career-aligned experiences in fields like entrepreneurship, digital media, agriculture, and hospitality through partnerships with organizations such as the Agriaquaculture Center for Excellence (AACE), LSU Gordon Cain Center for STEM Literacy, Tulane Young Entrepreneurs Academy, and a network of local businesses and industry partners.

Starting in the 2025-2026 school year, Louisiana’s Course Choice program is expanding. This means more opportunities for students to take courses that may not be offered at their school—like college credit classes, career and technical programs, and test prep.
