We operate at the intersection of education, industry, and community, designing pathways that are practical, culturally responsive, and future-facing.
DECAF is a multidisciplinary learning organization dedicated to preparing students for careers across creative, cultural, agricultural, and technology-driven industries. At the core of our work is the DECAF Guild, our education and training division. The Guild partners with schools, community organizations, and industry leaders to provide hands-on learning experiences rooted in real-world practice
. Students receive training in digital media, design, agriculture, culinary and food systems, entrepreneurship, and emerging technologies while earning industry-recognized certifications and participating in high-quality work-based learning experiences. Through mentorship, internships, and project-based instruction, learners build strong portfolios, technical fluency, and professional confidence. DECAF Publications extends this mission through a cultural magazine and scholarly journal that document, analyze, and celebrate contemporary culture, design, and education. These platforms amplify underrepresented voices, support research-informed practice, and preserve regional histories and creative legacies. In parallel, DECAF produces cultural programs, exhibitions, and community-centered arts events that showcase emerging and established artists. With a deep commitment to the American South, our exhibitions and programming prioritize artists and cultural producers from Texas and Louisiana, creating space for regional narratives, experimentation, and collaboration. Together, DECAF functions as an integrated ecosystem—educating, publishing, exhibiting, and convening—to cultivate talent, strengthen communities, and prepare the next generation of culturally fluent, industry-ready professionals. This holistic model ensures access, equity, and excellence while aligning education with workforce demand, cultural stewardship, and regional economic development through sustained partnerships, accountability, and measurable outcomes for students, educators, artists, and communities.

DECAF serves as a supplemental CTE program that builds out full 9-credit Carnegie Unit TOPS Tech career pathways—ideally offered after school—with flexible in-person or remote delivery, integrating work-based learning, internships, and industry-based certification (IBC) preparation and attainment; as a Louisiana Course Choice provider, there is no cost to the school or students, with state funding covering participation once enrolled, while students gain hands-on, career-aligned experiences in fields like entrepreneurship, digital media, agriculture, and hospitality through partnerships with organizations such as the Agriaquaculture Center for Excellence (AACE), LSU Gordon Cain Center for STEM Literacy, Tulane Young Entrepreneurs Academy, and a network of local businesses and industry partners.

DECAF will part of the 2026-2027 course choice offerings
Starting in the 2025-2026 school year, Louisiana’s Course Choice program is expanding. This means more opportunities for students to take courses that may not be offered at their school—like college credit classes, career and technical programs, and test prep. If you are wondering how these changes affect your child and how you can guide their course selection, visit our Course Choice Library to access parent resources and more. https://ow.ly/q5p950VxurH
