STAIR-Start the Adventure in Reading STAIR provides free one-on-one tutoring in reading to 2nd and 3rd graders in the New Orleans area. 📚

STAIR serves 2nd and 3rd grade students in need of reading support through one-on-one tutoring. A non-profit organization, STAIR is led by a strong all-volunteer Board of Directors and Advisory Council, staffed by qualified literacy administrators, and endowed with a volunteer force of more than 350 trained community individuals.

We join in mourning Dolly Parton, the Book Lady. Her contribution to children’s literacy has, simply put, changed the world. She believed in the light within every child, and used her own to shine on others and bring them more opportunities to succeed. She knew the way to do this was through literacy. Please consider a donation to today, which goes toward funding access for all New Orleans children ages 0-5 to Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library by covering the fees for each Orleans Parish ZIP code. 🦋

Last week was the final Week of our Rising Readers Summer Camp, where we discovered new music genres and artists through reading! We had such a blast reading about and listening to icons like Celia Cruz, Trombone Shorty, Dolly Parton, Millo Castro Zaldariaga, and Jack Prelutzky.

Again, we want to thank our volunteer tutors for their time spent with our campers each morning and for supporting us by providing spaces for our campers to learn and play, along with delicious lunches each day. Thank y'all for following along, and we are looking forward to the Fall Tutoring semester beginning in September (sign up to be a STAIR student or tutor today in our bio) 🌞📚

As we begin to finalize plans for our Rising Readers Summer Reading Camp, we want to say a huge thank you to the Literacy Foundation and for selecting us as a Summer Reading 2026 Grant Recipient! This grant will help us keep our Rising Readers camp low-barrier and provide more resources for our campers to help them increase their reading levels.

Huge THANK YOU to and everyone who donated and shared the word about our fundraiser! 125 amazing donors raised $16,967, which is just so incredible! We are so excited to be able to use these donations for our summer programming and for supporting our tutors and students over the 2026-2027 school year.
