Congratulations to African American literature professor Jacinta Saffold, who has received a Louisiana Board of Regents research grant for her book “Books & Beats: The Cultural Kinship of Street Lit and Hip Hop.” This grant will advance her book project, which includes not only the manuscript, but plans for a video interview series with Black storytellers. https://bit.ly/3JF3bsm

Congratulations, Dr. David Schexnaydre Jr!

Congratulations to UNO alum Dr. David Schexnaydre Jr, who was named the Louisiana Principal of the Year for 2022-2023.

David is the principal at Harry Hurst Middle School in St. Charles Parish. He earned his M.Ed. in Educational Leadership at the University of New Orleans in 2010 and completed his Ph.D. in Educational Administration at UNO in 2016.

Transportation professor Guang Tian has been awarded a grant from the Louisiana Board of Regents to study travel behaviors and transportation needs across different income levels and racial categories. This research will provide better understandings of every population group’s transportation needs and advance current knowledge on the effects of built environments on travel behavior. https://bit.ly/3OjkQXi
