If you wear braids, extensions, or use any type of added hair, you NEED to watch this.
What if the hair you're using for your protective styles contains potentially harmful chemicals?
A recent investigation by **Consumer Reports** found some alarming results. In its latest round of testing:
-29 out of 30 braiding hair products tested contained lead.
- 100% of the products contained volatile organic compounds (VOCs), some of which can pose health risks.
- Even human hair and products marketed as safer alternatives contained contaminants.
For many Black women, braids and extensions are a regular part of our beauty routines. But these findings raise an important question: **Do we really know what's in the products we're putting in our hair?**
While detecting a chemical doesn't automatically mean a product will cause harm, these findings highlight why more research, transparency, and product safety testing are needed.
