New University High School The school was founded as a primary and secondary school. The result of the move was an immediate drop in enrollment to 70 students.
The school began with seven students in a Sunday school building in Harahan, Louisiana. By 1965 it moved into New Orleans and had over 200 students enrolled in grades one through twelve. One of the prime factors in the growth was the grant-in-aid program which provided reimbursement to anyone whose dependent was attending a non-public school.
