Realizing that I only made 2 posts in all of 2021, I shouldn’t be surprised when people ask if I’m still working with students. Truth is, The Math Coach has thrived from word of mouth and referrals alone since the start of 2021 🤯 I’m so grateful for that! 🙏🏾
In 2021, I’m grateful to have been contracted by two local high schools to support their math students in state testing. I’m grateful for the connections made with several organizations that have trusted me and referred students to The Math Coach. I’m grateful for all parents who have entrusted me with their children and all adult students that allowed me to support them in reaching their next achievement.

As I plant new seeds this year in 2022, I hope to share more of this growth journey, more publicly . . . I hope, lol 🌱

When the streets are flooding outside but still have in-person lessons 🌧🥾😆 . . When I say I enjoy teaching, learning, and tutoring, I really mean it and the weather doesn’t hold me back! 😁 I’ve had students tell me that it looks I’m having too much fun while I’m teaching. Well, if I’m not enjoying it then I’m probably not doing it right! The Math Coach is here to stay! 💪🏾

This has been heavy on my mind and heart. 🖤 I’ve always said that sports coaches (or any coach/teacher/mentor that works with kids outside of school) have one the biggest influences on kids lives. Anytime someone ask the question “what are black people doing in their own community doing to prevent crime?” you can point them to any youth sports coach in the community! ✊🏾These are proactive solutions that help to build kids into upstanding community members and leaders👩🏽🎓👨🏾🎓. Redirect funds into these programs and we won’t need the heavy policing of our ‘hoods!

If I’m being honest🥺, it’s been hard at times this school year to focus on math because I know that our kids (and adults) need more emotional and mental support than anything! 💆🏾♂️ At times, I even feel guilty that I’m not in the classroom as a teacher supporting students on a daily basis. HOWEVER, I know that we can support students emotionally, mentally, and still provide quality education. So, I’ll continue to do my part through The Math Coach and support students and educators the best way I can! ✊🏾
