Remember: If you spot stranded or out-of-habitat marine mammals or sea turtles (live or dead), please call Audubon Aquarium Rescue at 877-942-5343.

We’re excited to unveil our new community-created birdhouses and youth-made mosaic tables and benches at Audubon Louisiana Nature Center! 🎨 🏠 ✨
“The Mirage” is a living sculpture by artist Trinity Barriere, brought to life with help from community members of all ages, and fabricated by Downtown Fabworks. In January 2026, more than 200 people from across New Orleans joined a Community Paint Day to create the colorful birdhouses featured in the piece.
The mosaic tables and benches, “Pause Here, the Land is Speaking”, were created by artist Jamar Pierre in collaboration with youth artists from Arts New Orleans’ Young Artist Movement (YAM). These young creatives learned mosaic and tile-setting techniques and infused their own voices into each design.
Both installations were unveiled during Dance for Social Change Festival at Audubon Louisiana Nature Center in April 2026.
This project was managed by Arts New Orleans in collaboration with Audubon Louisiana Nature Center, and funded by the City of New Orleans Percent for Art Program with matching support from the National Endowment for the Arts.
Be sure to check these incredible works created by the community when you visit Audubon Louisiana Nature Center!
