Community voices help move New Orleans forward!

The New Orleans Regional Transit Authority is inviting residents to take part in two upcoming community open houses for its Streetcar Modernization Master Plan.

These sessions are an opportunity to learn more about the plan and share feedback on the future of the city’s streetcar system, including accessibility, safety, reliability and long-term sustainability.

NOLA Public Schools is proud to celebrate Attendance Awareness Month this September! Every day a student is in school is another opportunity to learn, connect and grow. Consistency in school attendance creates opportunity, and this year, we’re encouraging our students and families to Strive for 95.

We’re aiming for a 95% attendance rate across NOLA-PS. Showing up consistently helps students stay connected to classroom instruction, build strong relationships and make the most of every opportunity school has to offer.

Follow along throughout September as we share attendance tips and reminders to help our students stay present, engaged and ready to learn. 📚

Twenty-one years ago, on August 29, 2005, Hurricane Katrina changed our city forever.

Today, we pause to honor the lives lost, the families displaced, and the neighborhoods that carried one another home through unimaginable heartbreak and unshakeable resilience.

That memory lives in every school we rebuilt, every teacher who returned, and every student who calls New Orleans home. Our children are the living proof of this city's strength, and we do not take that lightly.

We remember. We honor. We keep going. 🤝🙏✨️

Today, NOLA Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Fateama Fulmore hosted the inaugural Faith Advisory Council Meeting, in partnership with Angela Young of ALY Media, bringing together local faith leaders to strengthen the connection between NOLA-PS and communities across New Orleans. The meeting centered on the purpose and vision of the council and how faith leaders can partner with the Superintendent’s Office to support the district, students and families while building a stronger culture of collaboration with faith communities throughout the city.

Dr. Fulmore also shared an overview of NOLA-PS history, current district goals and priorities before opening the floor for Q&A and discussion around council governance, officer roles and next steps.

This is just the beginning. Stay tuned as the Faith Advisory Council takes shape and builds new pathways for partnership, connection and community support across New Orleans.
