Our 8th Grade Rites of Passage Ceremony marked a meaningful milestone for the Class of 2030, as these young Purple Knights officially concluded one chapter and stepped fully into the expectations of the St. Augustine High School experience.

Each year, this cherished tradition symbolizes more than promotion; it represents new responsibilities, elevated expectations, and a deeper commitment to academic excellence, leadership, and character.

The St. Augustine High School Class of 2030 wrapped up their 8th grade year in memorable fashion at our annual 8th Grade Picnic; a day packed with friendly competition, exciting field day activities, great food, and nonstop music.

More than just fun, the day served as a celebration of brotherhood, growth, and the journey ahead as these young Purple Knights prepare for the next chapter of their St. Augustine experience. Here’s to new memories, stronger bonds, and the bright future ahead.

Alum Travis Coleman has been appointed as the Varsity Head Coach and Director of Baseball Operations at St. Augustine High School. Effective immediately, Coleman embarks on his coaching journey with his alma mater.

With over a decade of experience in Major League Baseball scouting, Coleman brings a strong level of player development and program operation expertise to the role. His tenure with the Houston Astros and Atlanta Braves organizations was marked by championship success, with both teams winning a World Series and their respective minor league affiliates achieving notable success.

Coleman’s dedication to the game of baseball is further demonstrated by his ownership of TPL (The Prospect Lab), a premier baseball development academy and league based in Birmingham, Alabama. Since its inception in 2015, TPL has witnessed over five hundred athletes securing collegiate baseball scholarships and fifty-one players being selected in the MLB Amateur Draft. Notably, thirty-five of these players were drafted out of high school, and six of them have since made their way onto Major League Baseball rosters.

Joining Coleman’s staff will be several Purple Knight alumni, including former eight round draft pick from Tulane University and retired MLB scout Ronald Marigny, class of 1983; and former University of Memphis baseball player Will Spears, class of 2019. Additionally, he will retain current Assistant Coach Claude Hayes and bring on Josh Moore, a former Assistant Hitting Coach at Bevill State Community College.

Coleman, a 2003 graduate of St. Augustine High School, went on to become a four-year letterman in baseball at Auburn University, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in International Business. He is a 2005 initiate of the Theta Delta Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc.

The accolades continue to roll in for our talented Film & Media Crew! At the 51st Annual R. Tom Bell Silver Scribe Awards, our young storytellers proudly showcased the power of creativity, journalism, and media excellence; bringing home an impressive collection of honors.
