Brothers from across the country came together to honor our beloved Brother, Dr. Norman C. Francis, as he was initiated into the Omega Chapter. A legacy of excellence, leadership, and service that words can hardly capture.

Rest well, Brother.

Today, the Brothers of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. Sigma Lambda chapter mourn the loss of our Brother, Dr. Norman C. Francis.

Dr. Francis embodied the very ideals we hold sacred: manly deeds, scholarship, and love for all mankind. His impact extended far beyond the walls of Xavier University of Louisiana where he served as President for nearly 50 years, shaping generations of students and strengthening our community through his unwavering commitment to excellence. He was the first African American admitted to Loyola University Law School in New Orleans. Under his leadership, Xavier’s campus became a safe haven for Freedom Riders in the 1960s during the Civil Rights Movement. Dr. Francis has received numerous awards and honorary degrees for his service, including the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2006.

We extend our deepest condolences to his family, loved ones, and all who were blessed to learn from his example.

Rest in power, Brother. Your legacy will continue to inspire.

Active weekend for The New Orleans Alphas. Saturday, we partnered with Big Brothers, Big Sisters for the Brotherhood Bowl, where we played flag football with dozens of “littles” in the New Orleans area.

Today, we honored the legacy of our Brother, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and joined the City of New Orleans for their annual march. ✊🏾
