Day 3 of AMSA's primary care week is here, and if you've missed the past two days, it's OK, we forgive you! Today in 7062 we'll be hearing from Dr. Clarissa Hoff.
Dr. Hoff is double board certified in Family and Preventive Medicine, and is interested in providing holistic primary care to the whole family. Dr. Hoff is an active member and co-director of a practice based research network SAPORO. SAPORO works with primary care clinics and residency program across the south to coordinate quality research in primary care. The research is focused on producing results that directly benefit patients and the physicians that care for them. She is also director of the Tulane Preventive Medicine Residency program since 2014.
As if all that wasn't awesome enough we'll also have pyramids.

Hey Y'all,
Pulm got you out of breath? Upper limb killing your sense of humer(us)? Don't worry, AMSA has your back! Come by Hutch 5150 today at noon to hear Dr. Ashley Wennerstrom speak about health disparities in New Orleans. She literally does so much stuff that it's hard to summarize, don't believe me see below:
Dr. Wennerstrom is the director of the Louisiana Community Health Worker Training Institute. She is a co-founder and past chair of the Louisiana Community Health Outreach Network, a local professional group for community health workers. Dr. Wennerstrom is also the Community Health Clerkship Director for Tulane School of Medicine, an elective course which educates students about the social determinants of health, the non-medical aspects of patients’ lives such as education, housing, employment, language, environment, nutrition, and safety. From 2008-2010, Dr. Wennerstrom served as associate director of the REACH NOLA Mental Health Infrastructure and Training Project, a community-academic partnered mental health quality improvement initiative. She is a section councilor and treasurer for the Community Health Planning and Policy Development Section of the American Public Health Association (APHA). She also serves a co-chair of the policy committee for the Community Health Workers Section of APHA. Dr. Wennerstrom received a Bachelor of Arts in International Affairs and Spanish from the University of Colorado. She served as an AmeriCorps VISTA at New Orleans Area Habitat for Humanity prior to earning an MPH from the University of Arizona. She received a PhD from the department of Global Community Health and Behavioral Sciences at Tulane University School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine.
She also has done a lot of work advocating for prisoner healthcare reform and working with prisoners in Angola, basically she's a certified badass. Also we'll have pizza.
