Congratulations to our own Environment Program faculty, Dr. Michelle Rossi, Assistant Professor of Mass Communication, Journalism, who had three research manuscripts accepted for presentation at the 2026 AEJMC Annual Conference, the largest gathering of mass communication scholars in the U.S. The manuscripts were titled “Feeding the World, Framing the Story: JBS’s Corporate Legitimacy and Environmental Accountability in International News,” “Near-News Deserts and Environmental Reporting in Louisiana: Implications for Coverage in a Climate-Vulnerable Region,” and “Competing Discourses on the Environmental Agenda: Brazil vs. USA.” Her research examined corporate legitimacy and environmental accountability in international news, environmental reporting in Louisiana, and competing environmental discourses in Brazil and the United States. At the conference, Dr. Rossi also served as both moderator and panelist for the panel “Covering Animals in the News: Challenges in Reporting on Species Beyond Humans.” She also organized the pre-conference workshop, Academic Job Market Readiness, offsite at Loyola.

Interested in turning your curiosity about news media into a project while exploring how media practices and innovations shape the field? Reach out to Dr. Rossi ([email protected]) or stop by her office hours (CMM 309) to learn about opportunities to get involved.
